Gulls, Eagles, Seals, Fall Colors
The Atlantic Odyssey is now over, it has come to a close. It was an epic paddle for me, up the coastline of the Atlantic Ocean. It reinforced my love of self; my desire to live a simple life; and the beauty and kindness of my fellow human beings. I sit here this morning, sipping a cup of tea, enjoying the bright crisp fall sky. The seals are stirring up the eddy line with small fish, thus throwing the gulls into a feeding frenzy while the pair of beautiful eagles sit on roof tops observing the scene.
I love the Atlantic, it is such an amazing place. One day calm and kind the next spun up and ferocious like a wild animal. It ebs and flows on a beautiful rhythm, helping to keep my soul and spirit grounded to mother earth. I have had an amazing 2.5 years of paddling and look forward to writing about it and sharing my tales with others. I also am looking forward to moving onto dry land for a while as I begin a bike tour around the country. As with my kayaking, this will be done with simplicity in mind. Camping every night; eating simple meals; finding rhythm where the ocean doesn't exist. It will create its own set of unique challenges, of which my legs are probably the least excited about. Stay tuned as I begin my preparation for this trip sometime later this winter. Details will be available shortly.
