14 more miles in the crocs

I managed 14 more miles of training on Monday on the used Fargo with the big 2.3 Schwalbe Big Apple tires.  It was my first ride on it and it was incredibly sweet.  I went out with my a friend, she on her shiny multi geared ultra-light road bike decked out in the appropriate bike gear.  Me, well, I felt like the homeless adventuring  vagabond that I am,  stepping out of the woods and climbing onto a bike dressed in my knickers, wearing a very old biking shirt that I found and my very used Crocs. I managed to keep pace with my friend only because she was being so very kind to me.

While this way of training has been fun, I do realize that at a minimum I need to get a pair of shoes (8.5/41.5) to ride in as the Crocs have no stiffness at all.  I can see why so many people like to ride in sandles now -- it really is much cooler than being strapped into leather shoes sweltering in the heat.  So I will begin the search in earnest for a used pair of shoes that I can pair with a set of SPD pedals that have been donated to me.
