Beauty found in the simple and used
I love taking pictures of old buildings and structures. They have such great warmth and a silent sense of wisdom to them, just like an old relative, one who has seen much and has much to tell. Passing through Lubec Maine, the old herring smoke house buildings are falling down, victims of brutal winds, 20 plus foot tides and the neglect of man. Here is one of my favorite buildings that is just barely hanging on. Nightly the tide comes up to the base of the building, only to see it retreat 6 hours later. The process is un-ending, repeated twice daily, every day of the year. In the winter, north winds howl down through the Canadian Maritimes inflicting their own brutal punishment on buildings that stand in their way.
