50,000 Miles of Adventure Travel in 5 years
Yes, that is the goal, finally arrived at and simply stated. I intend to travel over 50,000 miles, all by human power over a 5 year period. I have just finished year two of this goal, and am currently sitting at 5,000 miles, all done by kayak. Soon I set out on a bike to travel the border of the United States, well over 10,000 miles, thus moving year 3 to upwards of 15,000 miles of adventure travel.
I hope that past and present visitors have enjoyed following along with me as I have traveled some of the most amazing coastal waters of North America. During this time, I have had the most amazing experiences and met the most special people of my life. It has truly been a life changing experience for me -- one that has seen me go from saying just one more trip, to now having a clear and concrete goal in mind of simply living on the go.
My upcoming bike tour is sure to provide me with more tails of drama, adventure, kindness, and love, so join along as I continue with my most amazing trek, promoting simplicity and the benefits found in human powered adventure travel. The site will soon be filled with more images from the road; video clips of the country side; and stories of the beautiful people that make up the United States of America.
Along the way, I will be setting up presentations and discussions at local community centers and bike shops. The web site and twitter feed will be updated regularly with schedules and meeting points. If you are interested in setting up a presentation that is not currently on my schedule, please just use the contact form and I will work with you to set it up. I will also be experimenting with foursquare to determine how this may help me connect with others as I travel through the many towns and cities along the way.
I will also be announcing a special charity partner in the next two weeks that I will be working closely with on the upcoming trip. I am extremely excited about this alliance and hope that together, we can do some really great things.
